HB 3044 would allow a corporation to make political expenditures, including fully or partially matching contributions to a 501(c)(3) organization, to finance the solicitation of political contributions to a general-purpose committee. A general-purpose committee receives contributions to use for political purposes, such as making contributions or independent expenditures to support or oppose candidates and ballot measures, or making contributions to political parties and other state or local campaign committees.
Since this matter does not involve liberty principles, Texas Action has a neutral stance on HB 3044.
