Relating to adoption of a swimming pool and spa code for use in municipalities in this state.
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 2858 would adopt the International Code Council's International Swimming Pool and Spa code as the municipal swimming pool and spa code in Texas as it existed on May 1st, 2019. This would apply to construction, alteration, remodeling, enlargement, and repair of swimming pools for municipalities that choose to adopt a pool and spa code. Municipalities that do not use a pool and spa code would not be required to do so under the provisions of this bill. Municipalities would be able to adopt amendments from the ICC's code that are made after May 1 2019.
Because this legislation is permissive and only applies to municipalities that adopt a pool and spa code, we remain neutral on HB 2858.
