Bill Caption

Relating to the licensing and regulation of massage therapy.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 2747 would require massage establishments and schools to display in a sign concerning services and assistance available to victims of human trafficking. The sign must: (1) be in English, Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, and any other language required by commission rule; (2) include a toll-free telephone number of a nationally recognized information and referral hotline for victims of human trafficking; and (3) be displayed in a conspicuous place clearly visible to the public.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on HB 2747 because it does not affect our liberty principles. The senate committee's substitute drastically reduced the regulatory burdens that the bill as filed would have imposed.
