Relating to the designation of a cybersecurity coordinator by each school district.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 2689 would require school district superintendents to designate a cybersecurity coordinator to serve as a liaison between the district and the Texas Education Agency. The coordinator would be required to report any incident to the TEA, and these incidents would not be subject to disclosure under state public information law.
Texas Action remains neutral on HB 2689 because it does not promote or violate any of our principles.
