Relating to a report of information concerning juvenile offenders committed to the Texas Juvenile Justice Department who have been in foster care.
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 2229 would require the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) to give a report summarizing statistical information concerning the total number and percentage of children in the custody of the department during the preceding two years who have at any time been in foster care, to each member of the legislature. In addition, the data in the report would be required to be disaggregated by: age; sex; race or ethnicity; the conduct for which children were committed to the department; and children entering the juvenile justice system for the first time.
Texas Action remains neutral on HB 2229 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
