Relating to a trauma history assessment for certain defendants and inmates.

HB 2168 would require the The Department of Corrections to assess each inmate during the diagnostic process to determine whether the inmate has experienced adverse childhood experiences or other significant trauma and refer the inmate as needed to a medical or mental health care professional for treatment. Each defendant would be required to be assessed when they are placed on community supervision to determine whether they have experienced adverse childhood experiences or other significant trauma. The defendant would be referred to the appropriate medical or mental health care professional for treatment. An inmate exhibiting symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder or other symptoms of trauma would qualify as an inmate required to be referred to a mental health professional.
