Bill Analysis

HB 2140 would require the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to allow people to apply for a TAFSA or similar state student financial aid on the board's website. The board would be required to create a temporary advisory committee to help develop the application and website as well as make recommendations to the board. The board would also be required to maintain an online database of institutions of higher education where state student financial aid can be applied. Any personal information submitted to the application and website would be confidential.
