Relating to the creation of a statewide alert system for missing adults and to a study of the alert system.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 1769 would create a statewide alert system for missing persons between the ages of 18 and 65. The Department of Public Safety would be required to recruit support from radio, television, and governmental entities for support for the alert system. The department would be required to verify all of the information of a missing persons report as accurate before an alert is sent out.
Texas Action remains neutral on HB 1769 because it does not promote or violate our principles.
