HB 1717 is enabling legislation for HJR 72 which proposes a constitutional amendment to allow a person to hold more than one office as an elected or appointed municipal judge in more than one municipality at the same time. The purpose of this legislation is to allow smaller cities without enough qualified people to fill municipal judge positions to have elected municipal judges serve more than one city. (Appointed municipal judges may already do so.)
