Bill Caption

Relating to the regulation of game rooms in certain counties.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Currently, only certain counties are authorized to regulate game rooms. HB 1476 would allow a county with a population of more than 200,000 and less than 250,000 (McClennan County) to regulate game rooms. A "game room" means a for-profit business located in a building or place that contains six or more (1) amusement redemption machines or (2) electronic, electromechanical, or mechanical contrivances that, for consideration, afford a player the opportunity to obtain a prize or thing of value, and is based solely or partially on chance.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on HB 1476 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
