Bill Caption

Relating to the extended registration of certain vehicles not subject to inspection.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 1262 would have the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles create a system by which the owner of a vehicle not subject to inspection (except mobile homes) can register the vehicle for an extended period of up to 5 years.  The vehicle owner would be able to select the number of years to register, with all applicable fees for the entire period due at the time of registration.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 1262 for promoting the principle of individual liberty. This is a simple bill that will merely provide an additional option for vehicle owners to register their property for a greater length of time.
