Bill Caption

Relating to deadlines for performing various functions in connection with the ad valorem tax system.

Bill Analysis

SB 946 would require the chief appraiser to accept or deny exemption applications for freeport goods after the filing deadline has passed, but is not later than June 1.

Deadline dates would be revised for allocation applications, rendition statements, property reports, and written notice of protests. Extensions for certain deadlines would also be revised.

Vote Recommendation Notes

While SB 946 may streamline some processes and remove some degree of confusion within the tax code, however this is a mainly procedural bill which does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
