Fiscal Notes

From the LBB: no significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 1936 would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Veterans Commission to develop a one-page informational paper about veterans services provided by the state for those who receive veterans designated driver’s license and other identification forms. This bill would also create a disabled veteran designation on identification forms allowing the veteran to use the identification for benefits or services available. Finally, this bill would require a disabled veteran seeking renewal of a driver license or identification card to provide proof sufficient to the Department of Public Safety of the disabled veteran's disability rating.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill updates reporting for the Texas Veterans Commission and creates a new disabled veteran designation which do not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
