Bill Caption

Relating to an application for a ballot to be voted by mail.

Fiscal Notes

From the LBB: No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This bill would require the clerk to deliver written notice to an applicant for a ballot by mail who has already been sent a ballot and the date the ballot was provided. This would only apply to an early voting clerk that does not electronically record applications for a ballot by mail under Section 87.126 of the Elections Code.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill upholds our principles of limited government and personal responsibility by requiring clerks to disclose to an individual if they were previously sent a ballot by mail. This allows voters greater information when trying to vote and helps to continue to secure our elections. For these reasons, we support SB 1820.
