Bill Analysis

Under current law, certain information is exempt from public information requirements if it is information considered confidential by law. SB 1655 would clarify that information considered to be privileged created by the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, the Texas Rules of Evidence, the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct, the Federal Rules of Evidence, or the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, including the attorney-client privilege, the attorney work product privilege, or any other state or federal discovery privilege Next, a series of statutes would be determined not to constitute a reason to withhold information for a governmental body that fails to comply with the requirements of a request for Attorney General decision.
