Bill Caption
Relating to certain powers and duties of the board of trustees of an
independent school district and the governing body of an
open-enrollment charter school.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
One of the major provisions of SB 1566 would have school boards require training on evaluating school performance, while increasing their oversight responsibilities when it comes to student performance oversight.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill would put greater control back in the hands of the school boards who are elected, instead of the administrators. This philosophy is in keeping with our limited government principles and we support SB 1566.
