Bill Caption

Relating to prohibiting certain establishments serving the public from restricting a peace officer or special investigator from carrying a weapon on the premises.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This bill would bar any establishment that serves the public from prohibiting a peace officer from carrying a weapon, whether or not the officer is in the discharge of his duty.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill protects officers as it removes any risk that they would be barred from an establishment during an emergency situation. For this reason, we support this bill.
