Bill Caption

Relating to the statute of limitations for aggravated assault.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This bill would modify the statute of limitations for aggravated assault and other felonies. Under current law aggravated assault is not explicitly mentioned under this statute of limitations. If this bill passes, the statute of limitations for aggravated assault would be three years. Also, all other felonies that are not explicitly mentioned in this statute would also have a three year statute of limitations.

Vote Recommendation Notes

The current statute of limitations for aggravated assault is not explicitly mentioned, but it is assumed to be included in the three year statute because it would be considered “all other felonies”. A three-year statute of limitations for aggravated assault is agreeable, but already implicitly included. This bill would have no measurable impact on our liberty principles, therefore we will remain neutral .
