Bill Analysis

HB 550 would amend the Parks and Wildlife Code to require vessels have a flotation device for each person aboard, lights required by the Coast Guard, and now a sound-producing device required by the Coast Guard.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill diminishes our individual liberty and limited government principles by adding a new regulation on what equipment individuals must have aboard their vessel, which is not a the proper role of government. For these reasons we oppose HB 550.
