Bill Caption
Relating to the disqualification from receiving unemployment
benefits of individuals who resign from work in lieu of being
discharged for misconduct.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
This would disqualify certain individuals from receiving
unemployment benefits. If a person left their last workplace voluntarily in
lieu of being discharged for misconduct they would be disqualified from receiving
unemployment benefits. If this bill passes, it would not matter if the
individual gave an advanced notice to the employer, or if the individual was terminated
by the employer before the date stated in an advance notice of resignation as
the individual’s last day of work.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill would uphold our liberty principle of limited government and personal responsibility by ensuring that only individuals who find themselves unemployed through no fault of their own can qualify for unemployment benefits. We support HB 463.
