Bill Analysis

This bill would create a variety of new offenses and sentence enhancements relating to voter fraud. The bill would make changes to voter assistance laws in order to reduce opportunities for a person to fraudulently cast the ballot of a vulnerable voter who is in need of assistance.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Protecting the integrity of elections is a core function of government. Voter fraud should be difficult to perpetrate and penalties for related offenses should be sufficient to provide an appropriate punishment and serve as a deterrence. This bill supports individual liberty and limited government by protecting election integrity. We support HB 4131.
