HB 3997 would authorize a fee of up to $150 for the administration of an ordinance regarding a junkyard or automotive wrecking and salvage yard if the ordinance is adopted by the commissioners court of a county located on the Texas-Mexico border that has a population of less than 300,000 and contains one or more municipalities with a population of 200,000 or more.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill violates our free market and limited government principles by authorizing significant increases in fees for junk yard licensure. We oppose HB 3997.
