Bill Caption
Relating to the donation of sick leave by state employees.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
HB 2757 would amend the Government Code to allow a state agency employee to donate any amount of the employee’s accrued sick leave to another employee who is employed in the same agency and is experiencing a medical emergency or caring for an immediate family member experiencing a medical emergency and has exhausted all paid leave available to the employee. The employee would be required to provide a written statement from the practitioner who is treating the employee or the family member.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Because this is permissive and does not include a provision allowing a person to use donated sick leave to lobby the legislature, we do not see a connection to our liberty principles and we remain neutral.
