Bill Caption

Relating to the eligibility of certain victims of trafficking of persons for an order of nondisclosure.

Fiscal Notes

From the LBB: No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This bill would allow victims of trafficking to be eligible for an order of nondisclosure for crimes committed solely as a victim of trafficking, including theft, organized retail theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, or possession of various controlled substances or marijuana.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill furthers our individual liberty principles by allowing victims of trafficking to be eligible for orders of nondisclosure for crimes committed solely as victims of trafficking. This means that a victim would not be further marginalized in society due to having a criminal record that they were essentially forced into, therefore we support this legislation.
