Bill Analysis

HB 2098 would allow the holder of a wholesaler's permit to purchase ale and malt liquor from holders of brewpub licenses. Additionally, the holder of a local class B wholesaler's permit would be allowed to purchase malt and vinous liquor from holders of brewpub licenses.

The bill would also authorize the holder of a local distributor's license to receive beer from brewpubs and other distributors, and to sell and distribute beer to certain permit holders. license holders or other distributors.

Texas Action supports this bill. HB 2098 upholds our principle of free markets by allowing certain permit holders to have more freedom to purchase products from brewpub license holders. Opening up transactions in this highly regulated industry supports our principle of promoting a free market.
