Bill Analysis

This bill would require the department of family protective services the department has provided a 16 year old foster care child with their birth certificate, social security card, personal ID certificate or driver's license, information contained in their health passport, proof of enrollment in Medicaid, if applicable, and written information on the child’s higher education benefits and opportunities available.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill would help to ensure that as foster children age out of the system they are equipped with important documentation they need to lead responsible and independent lives. We support HB 1968.
