Bill Analysis

HB 1922 addresses the process for determining eligibility for survivors benefits following the death of a firefighter who died who died as a result of an illness caused by line-of-duty work. Among other things this bill would exclude the opinion of the employer regarding whether individual's death resulted from an illness caused by line-of-duty work and would add several other factors to be used in making the determination.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This procedural update in determining eligibility for survivor benefits does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles and we remain neutral.
