Bill Caption

Relating to certification of the state's primary standards of weights and measures.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, the Department of Agriculture maintains the certified standards of weights and measures by which all state and local standards of weights and measures are tried, authenticated, proved, and certified. The department is required to submit these standards for certification every 10 years. HB 1730 would instead require these standards to be submitted as required to maintain recognition of the department’s metrology laboratory (which may be more or less than 10 years).

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 1730 neither uplifts nor offends our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
