Bill Analysis
This bill would modify the portion of the government code relating to the welfare of inmates, and the procedure governing the inmate grievance system. If this bill passes, The Texas Department of Criminal Justice would be required to submit a quarterly report regarding inmate grievances. The report would require the number and types of inmate grievances received by the department, aggregated and dis-aggregated by individual facility. The report would be submitted to the governor, lieutenant governor, the state auditor, and each member of the legislature.
