Bill Caption

Relating to the ability of foster parents to intervene in certain suits affecting the parent-child relationship.

Fiscal Notes

From the LBB: No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This bill would allow a foster parent who had a child placed in their home for at least 12 months to intervene in a pending suit affecting the parent-child relationship if there is satisfactory proof that the court’s appointment of the child’s parent or parents as managing conservator would impair the child’s physical health or emotional development.

Vote Recommendation Notes

While this would allow foster parents to have more of a voice in the outcome of a suit affecting the parent-child relationship, this bill does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
