Bill Analysis
This bill would change the requirements of personal financial statements submitted to the Texas Ethics Commission to include:
- identification of the greatest number of shares of stock of any non publicly traded business entity held or acquired
- identification by stock symbol and category of the number of shares of stock of any publicly traded corporations held
The bill would also require an individual that is required to file a financial statement to maintain a record of the information necessary for filing for at least three years after the filing deadline.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This change would increase the transparency of the financial situation of persons seeking to be public officials, which is in keeping with the principle of personal responsibility. Therefore we support this legislation.
