Bill Caption

Relating to the delegation of death certificates to attending physicians in certain counties.

Fiscal Notes

From the LBB: No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This bill would allow medical examiners in counties of one million people or more to delegate authority of signing a person's death certificate to the person's attending physician (with the consent of that physician) at time of death or another attending physician if the medical examiner determines the person's death is due to natural causes.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill puts less of a burden on medical examiners, and should apply to all counties instead of just ones with a population of one million or more. Therefore we support this bill with an amendment.
