Bill Caption

Relating to the concurrent jurisdiction of certain municipal courts in certain criminal cases punishable by fine only.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, certain types of municipalities are allowed to enter into agreement to have concurrent jurisdiction, with municipalities that they border, when it comes to criminal matters of the state. This bill would define those borders as being 200 yards of the boundary that marks the municipality that has a population of 1.9 million people, or 2.5 miles away from that border that traverses a major body of water.
