SB 611 would modify the Water Code to exempt certain information from being included on groundwater withdrawal reports (under the Public Information Act). Namely, the bill would allow the owner or operator of a privately owned water well to submit to the groundwater conservation district a written request to treat the groundwater withdrawal report as confidential information and the report would be treated as such.   

Vote Recommendation Notes

Allowing private entities to take greater control of their personal information is a desirable end. SB 611 is an admirable step in the direction of greater individual liberty which would allow well owners and operators a greater say in how their personal information is used. We support SB 611.
