Bill Caption
Relating to a requirement that entering undergraduate students at a public institution of higher education attend an orientation regarding mental health and suicide prevention services.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to State or local government.
Bill Analysis
SB 1624 would require higher education teaching institutions to provide to entering full-time professional, undergraduate, or graduate students information regarding mental health and suicide
prevention services via a live presentation or online program or video that is not longer than 15 minutes.
Vote Recommendation Notes
While the value of providing 15 minutes of training on mental health and suicide prevention services to incoming students is questionable in terms of whether it will have any actual positive impact, this bill neither affirms or offends our liberty principles. We are neutral on SB 1624.
