Bill Analysis

This legislation would update the population brackets pertaining to the mass transportation systems in Forth Worth and Dallas. The original brackets were put in place at a time when the populations of both cities were much lower than they are today. There are specific statutory requirements and obligations that pertain to the transportation authorities of those cities, which is why the population brackets were put in place in the first place. This legislation makes the brackets reflective of the modern population of Dallas and Fort Worth.

Vote Recommendation Notes

5/19/15 update:

No amendments or modifications have been made to the bill since we reported on it.

First chamber analysis:

This is clean-up legislation to modernize the Tax Code and Transportation Code as they relate to the transit systems in Dallas and Fort Worth. There is no connection between this legislation and our liberty principles, therefore we are neutral.
