Bill Analysis

SB 1369 would require courts to annually submit information regarding attorneys ad litem, guardians, mediators, and competency evaluators to the Office of Court Administration (OCA) via an automated form that would be developed.  The information would be related to compensation and include the names of the lawyers, dates, judges that appointed them, and information about the compensation for the appointments. The report would be made available online and physically at the OCA.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill supports the principle of limited government, therefore we support this legislation. An important factor of the limited government principle is transparency in government, especially regarding use of financial resources.  SB 1369 would promote this by requiring transparency about the compensation paid to attorneys appointed by courts for cases to be publicly available.
