Bill Caption

Relating to an interim study concerning this state’s noncommercial hunting and fishing license systems.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 1181, if passed, would instruct the Parks and Wildlife Department to undertake an interim study regarding the hunting and fishing license system. The due date for this study would be November 12th 2017. Specifically, the study would examine the consolidation of non-commercial hunting and fishing licenses, how to maintain wildlife management standards under a master system, the elimination of hunter education courses as separate requirements for hunting licenses, and avenues to increase the ways for individuals to apply for hunting or fishing licenses.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Because this bill would merely authorize a study on noncontroversial procedural issues, and because there is no associated cost to the state we are neutral on SB 1181. This legislation does not intersect with our liberty principles.
