Bill Caption

Urging the U.S. Congress to expedite natural gas exports.

Fiscal Notes

There is no fiscal note at this time.

Bill Analysis

HCR 63 is a resolution recommending that the United States Congress expedite natural gas exports. The majority of the bill highlights the importance of natural gas to the United States economy. These statements are as follows:

- The United States produces more natural gas than any other state.

- As of 2012 natural gas development supports 900,000 jobs in the United States.

- Natural gas had an important geopolitical role to play.

- Expansion of natural gas exports would help the United States and WTO states in the international realm.

HCR 63 ends with the resolution that the 84th Legislature of Texas urge the United States Congress to expedite natural gas exports, and that copies of this resolution will be sent to the President of the United States, the president of the Senate, the speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Texas delegation to the United States Congress.

Vote Recommendation Notes

We agree that natural gas is an important component of the economies of both Texas and the United States. The findings of HCR 63 are accurate and the resolutions are laudable. If congress does indeed expedite natural gas exports, there will be significant gains to be had, in the realms of deregulation and free trade. As such we support the aims of HCR 63.
