HB 826 requires that the Title IV-D agency provide information on the laws governing modification of a child support order to all parties in a suit in which a final order for child support has been rendered.
The laws impacting a child’s welfare are complicated. In order for those responsible for the child’s welfare to properly manage their child’s welfare against the burgeoning growth of the state’s interest in handling the parent-child relationship, they need to be properly informed of the laws that could impact and hinder that relationship. HB 826 intends to help parents become informed of how to navigate the laws that bind them. We support this bill because it preserves the parents' individual liberty and encourages transparency in government.
The second chamber sponsor is Senator Ellis.
