Bill Caption

Relating to the prosecution of criminal offenses of electioneering near a polling place.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This legislation would amend Election Code to adjust electioneering offenses to include loitering or electioneering for or against any candidate, measure, or political party within 100 feet of an outside door that a voter may enter the polling place building or a parking space for person with disabilities that serves the building and a designated travel path between the space and an outside door of the building.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Existing laws concerning electioneering at, and access to, polling places are sufficient. But because this bill is clerical in nature, clearing up ambiguity in the distance for electioneering outside a polling location to be more narrow in its scope, we remain neutral on HB 3370.
