Bill Analysis

HB 3748 would amend code to require theTexas Education Agency (TEA) to designate at least one employee to act as a liaison regarding educational issues related to students in foster care.  The bill would require higher institutions to education to designate a liaison for current and incoming students formerly in foster care. The bill would require a memorandum of understanding between the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and the Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to exchange student information to evaluate educational outcomes for students formerly in foster care.
