Current law in Chapter
2102 of the Government Code requires a state agency to conduct an internal
audit program.
The bill would amend Chapter 531 of the Government Code by requiring the
Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to operate a consolidated internal audit
program for the commission and each health and human services agency. The bill specifies that a reference in the act
to the administrator of a state agency means the executive commissioner of HHSC
with respect to a health and human services agency. The bill would require the information resources manager of a health and
human services agency to report directly to the executive commissioner or a
deputy executive commissioner designated by the executive commissioner.
