Bill Analysis

Summary: This legislation would allow the state’s attorney general to file an injunction against a county government if the county adopts regulations prohibiting firearms, firearms supplies, or ammunition.

Analysis: While we generally favor local control, we do recognize the state's need to intervene if local governments step beyond their boundaries and infringe on the individual liberties of their citizens. This legislation gives the Attorney General a tool to intervene if a county infringes on 2nd Amendment rights of its citizens. We support SB 987.
