Bill Caption

Relating to the renewal and extension and modification of a 99-year lease of certain state property to the City of Austin.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.

Bill Analysis

Summary: This legislation would give authority to the General Land Office to set aside several plots of land and give them to Austin as lots of public use. This bill would authorize Austin to build, maintain, and improve these lots so long as they maintain the purpose for which they were granted.

Analysis: This bill would grant the lease of Wooldridge Park and Brush Park tracts to the city of Austin and limit the city’s uses of the property. If the city fails to use the property for the purposes authorized in the legislature, the lease or portion of the lease will be terminated. This legislation would formalize existing land usage arrangements for state land that the city of Austin has historically stewarded. This legislation falls outside the purview of TPPA’s liberty principals therefore TPPA will remain neutral on the matter.
