Estimated Two-year Net Impact to General Revenue Related Funds for HB3201, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted: an impact of $0 through the biennium ending August 31, 2015. The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill.

Bill Analysis

Summary: HB 3201 would give the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners more bandwidth to investigate complaints. HB 3201 does not increase any penalties. HB 3201 increases the government's ability to properly handle these cases. 

Extra money has already been appropriated this legislative session to the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners and HB 3201 would also add an $80 application and renewal fee to help cover the cost of the panel of experts. 

Analysis: HB 3201 does not add any unnecessary extra regulations for dentists and orthodontists, but it helps the board be more effective in overseeing the profession. HB 3201 does not increase penalties. HB 3201 enhances the ability to investigate complaints against dentists without expanding regulation. TPPA supports HB 3201.
