Bill Analysis

Summary: HB 1292 would allow a protective order application to be filed in any county where an alleged sexual assault or abuse occurred or any court with jurisdiction over a protective order under Title 4, Family Code. Additionally, this bill would add sexual abuse and trafficking to the offenses that allow a court to grant a protective order with reasonable grounds.

Analysis: HB 1292 would allow greater access to a protective order for victims of sexual offenses. This bill promotes personal responsibility, and we recommend a YES vote on HB 1292.
