Bill Analysis

SB 2008 would designate the San Jacinto Museum and Battlefield association as the entity responsible for operating the San Jacinto Memorial Building and Tower, operating the museum, and engaging in related activities on the battleground at the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site.  The Texas Historical Commission would be responsible for maintaining and repairing the San Jacinto Memorial Building and Tower and providing utilities for these facilities. The commission may enter into an agreement with the association for the purposes of expanding, renovating, managing, maintaining, operating, or providing financial support for the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site. This bill would allow the commission to adopt guidelines under which the association may solicit and accept sponsorships or donations from private entities or seek state funds.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on SB 2008 as this bill does not impact our liberty principles.
