Bill Caption

Relating to the beginning and ending possession times in certain standard possession orders in a suit affecting the parent-child relationship.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 1936 would require a court in a child custody case, notwithstanding specific exceptions, to alter the beginning and ending times of a standard possession order to provide that the possessory conservator has access to the child if they live within 50 miles of the child's primary residence and have made the elections for certain alternative beginning and ending possession times. If enacted, the Attorney General's office would have to create informational material that describe different possession schedules and post them publicly on their website.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral on SB 1936 as it does not affect our Liberty Principles.
