Relating to the electronic delivery of certain communications and payments required or permitted under the Property Tax Code; authorizing a fee.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 1413 would amend the Tax Code to allow communication and certain payments through electronic means, allowing the property owner and tax official to have an agreement on the desired communication medium. The bill would allow the comptroller's office to collect a convenience fee for use of an electronic system.
While providing taxpayers the use of an electronic system for communications and payments would modernize the property tax code somewhat, this bill is mostly administrative or procedural in nature with no apparent connection to our liberty principles. Texas Action remains neutral on SB 1413.
